Dairy Free Detox Diet

Dawn says “Dairy intolerance is quite commonplace and is associated with a diverse range of health problems. Two of my close friends suffered with health problems for years without recognising that dairy was implicated; one had breathing difficulties and the other had chronic depression. Once dairy products were removed from their diets the symptoms left.

This book explains the mechanisms by which dairy provokes health problems. There is a comprehensive self-test so you can identify whether dairy is an issue for you. Once you’ve done this, the next step is to do an elimination trial. This is absolutely the best way of testing all of the affects of a food on your health. You have complete instructions for a 14-day elimination trial and retest, so after 2 weeks you would expect to experience a noticeable difference in your health. Strategies to regain your health and vitality in the longer-term, including ways to strengthen your digestive system, are also given.

People always ask me how to protect their bones on a dairy-free diet, as they are concerned they will become deficient in calcium. However, the reality is that maintaining healthy bones is far more complex then just supplying calcium. Bones need a whole range of nutrients, not just calcium. It is also a myth that dairy is the only or best source of calcium.  A whole chapter is devoted to the topic of strong bones, and it shows you the foods that will provide the essential nutrients you need. The award-winning cookery writer Jane Sen contributes wonderfully tasty and healthy dairy-free recipes, so you will not be at a loss to know what to eat.”

Praise for The Dairy-Free Detox Diet

”When I saw this book in a health food shop, my initial reaction was to ignore it – I don’t do fad diets. However, on skipping through the pages my interest was caught, so I bought it and I’m so glad I did. It was read, almost in its entirety, at the first sitting. The factual information on nutrition and how the body metabolizes various foods is fascinating – a real eye opener! Who would have thought that eating a high amount of dairy produce could actually be counterproductive in the fight against osteoporosis?
The author obviously knows her stuff and this is in no way another “fad diet”, but a highly informative & clearly presented sensible approach to detecting a dairy intolerance. I believe many people could find their irritating symptoms, such as rhinitis, headaches, sinusitis, sore throats, fluid retention, lack of energy etc., could be a thing of the past. If only I had known about this years ago!” Lynn A

“At first glance, I assumed the dairy-free detox diet was another poorly written fad diet plan based in faulty pseudo-science. Imagine my surprise when I find that it is a well-written and well-informed ‘diet’ book.
There is also plentiful information in this section on explaining which fats are essential, how to still get calcium in your diet without milk and healthy eating. In the beginning there is also a very helpful assessment program which will determine how affected you are personally by possible lactose intolerance.
The recipes themselves are easy to follow and generally rely on soya products a lot less than other books on the subject. All in all, the dairy free detox plan is definitely one to look out for if you are trying to eliminate dairy from your diet, but even more importantly, it tells you why it is good to do so.”
