Passing Exams: Maximum Success and Minimum Stress
Dawn says, “The idea for Passing Exams, my first book, was born whilst I was doing my post-graduate research on stress. At that time I was teaching at university and before that I had spent many years on the other side of the classroom as a student. I soon noticed that lots of people struggled with the exam process; bright students would often perform poorly on exams and achieve a result far below their capabilities.
With closer inspection I realised three issues were involved: using inefficient study techniques, making avoidable mistakes during the exam, and succumbing to exam nerves and stress.
I realised that the revision and exam strategies I had developed for my own studies and the knowledge I had about stress would be helpful to others and reduce the pressure they faced during exams. The book provides a roadmap that will steer you through each step of the exam process. There are detailed strategies for how to revise effectively, improve your memory, and manage your time. Exam anxiety and stress is covered in detail. And being a nutritionist I simply had to write a chapter about the affects of diet and nutrition on the brain and mental performance, with suggestions for foods and supplements that can boost learning, focus, and memory.
This book developed into a one-day workshop that I taught to MBA students at Cass Business School in London for several years. It received very positive feedback from students.
